OSMA Award, any of a series of awards presented annually in Nigeria by Mars Promotions (A prolific branding, event and entertainment company) to recognize achievement in the Nigeria music industry. Winners are selected from more than 25 fields, which cover such genres as pop, rap, R&B and gospel, as well as production and postproduction work, including packaging and album notes. Four general awards are also given for record, EP, song of the year, and best new artist; awards are also presented to Disk Jockeys, Hypemen, OAPs, Comedians, and Music Hangouts, in total more than 20 awards are presented. The winners receive a golden statuette of a 3-stars trophy.
To be eligible for an OSMA from Mars Promotions, the recording or music video must be released in Nigeria between Sept 1 of the previous year and midnight August 30 of the given OSMA year. Entries are submitted by Artistes and Record Companies and are reviewed to determine eligibility and category placement. The OSMA Jury, through a series of ballots, selects six nominees (sometimes more) for each award category. The fans cast ballots via the awards social platforms. The winners are announced during the award ceremony.
The OSMA Awards were first presented by Mars Promotions at Exclusive Event Centre, Akure in December 2016, when 15 awards were given. Winners included Coldman, Superwozzy, and MFB. The number of awards has increased as musical genres have emerged.
