ABOUT THE OSMA AWARDS
The OSMAs is an award presented by Mars Promotions to recognize achievements in the Nigeria music industry (Nigeria awards for fast-rising music talents). It debuted in 2016.
HOW WINNERS EMERGE AT THE OSMA AWARDS?
Winners are arrived at either through voting by the public for categories opened to voting. Or through critical and in-depth analysis by the members of the OSMAs’ Jury.
HOW MANY NOMINATION CATEGORIES DOES THE AWARD HAVE?
Two. The voting and the non-voting category.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE VOTING AND NON-VOTING CATEGORIES?
The voting categories are those opened to the public to vote for their preferred nominee either via online voting (Website) and Personal Influence (Sales of few regular tickets of the award ceremony). While the non-voting categories are those categories that require technical and indepth analysis by members of the OSMAs’ Jury.
WHAT IS THE YEAR-IN-REVIEW?
This is the period, usually 12 months (mostly September of the previous year to August of the current year) that determines nominations. Only music materials released within the year-in-review are eligible for nominations, either as an audio or video material.
CAN ONE ARTISTE BE NOMINATED IN MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY?
Yes. Any artiste or their works can be nominated in more than one category. Hence, an artiste can also win in more than one category they’ve been nominated in.

WHAT DOES THE OSMA TROPHY REPRESENT?
Taking a good look at the OSMA Trophy, you will notice that the three stars are of different sizes in different heights. This is believed to show the different levels of an artiste music career. We are using the trophy to depict that you (Artistes) are a star at any particular level. You only need to grow in your stardom to become the biggest star like the one on top of the trophy. It’s a motivational trophy.

The present OSMA trophy is a mixture of resin and marble, coated with gold.
